Striker Ivan Toney has signed a new contract on improved terms at the Cobblers.
The 18-year-old former Weston Favell School pupil has agreed a deal that will keep him at Sixfields until June 2017.
Toney scored three vital goals in the final two matches of last season and has been rewarded with a pay rise and a longer contract at his hometown club.
Northampton born Academy product, who scored three goals in the last two games of last season, has penned a new deal that will keep him at Sixfields until June 2017.
“Everyone saw the impact Ivan made at the end of the season and we were keen to tie him down to a longer deal,” said manager Chris Wilder.
“He already had two years left on his contract anyway, but we wanted to offer him improved terms for a longer period that more accurately reflects the progress he has made.
“He has still got a long way to go and Ivan knows that competition for places will be tough next season, but if he keeps working hard and progressing he could have a very bright future in the game.
“We are really pleased to have got this contract signed and we are the excited about the progress he as an individual and we as a club could make in the next three years.”
