Page insists Cobblers are not getting carried away by eye-catching start to the season

Town were 4-0 winners over Southend United at the weekend, a result that saw them rise to fifth in the table after nine games of the season.

Looking up, Page's men are four points off the pace being set by leaders Scunthorpe United, and just three behind second-placed Bury.

But in what is an incredibly tight division, the Cobblers are also just three points clear of Tuesday night's opponents Swindon Town, who are currently down in 17th place.

Promoted from league two as champions in May, Town have moved up the table impressively in recent weeks off the back of three wins in their past four games, but Page knows fortunes can change quickly.

The Cobblers haven't been as high in the Football League table since the 1997/98 season when they ended up reaching the play-off final at Wembley, but Page is keeping his own and his players' feet on the ground.

"We haven't been in this position for a very long time, but we are not getting carried away with things," said the Cobblers boss..

"The league is so tight at the minute and it is about us maintaining our standards and keeping the consistency going.

"We are on a good little run at the minute, and it is about keeping that going."

Town travel to the County Ground tonight aiming to claim their first away league win of the season, having drawn three and lost one of their four games on the road so far this season.

The Cobblers were beaten 3-1 at Chesterfield in their most recent away game, and Page expects his players to be disciplined against a Robins outfit that is renowned as a passing team.

"I am expecting a tough game," said Page. "Whenever I have played against a Swindon team they get the ball down and play, so it will be a different game to Saturday in that respect.

"They won't be as direct (as Southend). They have had an okay start to the season, and they are only three points behind us as the league is so tight.

"We will have to be disciplined in our performance, like we have been up to now, and it is an away performance.

"I will be asking the lads to maybe make that little change in their mentality, but we are still going there to win the game."

The Cobblers will make a late call on the fitness of midfielder Jak McCourt, who is struggling after taking a couple of knocks during Saturday's win.
