Central midfielder John-Joe O’Toole has become manager Chris Wilder’s latest addition to the Northampton Town squad.
The 25-year-old has agreed terms on a three-year deal at Sixfields, effective from July 1, and his arrival is likely to complete the club’s transfer activity in the midfield department.
O’Toole was available on a free transfer having activated a release clause in his contract at Bristol Rovers following their relegation out of the Football League.
The former Watford and Colchester United man scored 15 goals for Rovers last term and was named in the PFA team of the year for Sky Bet League Two.
He becomes only the third new arrival at the Cobblers this summer, following the recruitment of Marc Richards from Chesterfield and Kaid Mohamed on loan from Port Vale.
Both players have been signed with a view to improving the club’s goalscoring capabilities after they finished the 2013/14 season as the joint lowest scorers in the division.
