Breaking News: Striker Berahino leaves Cobblers
Cobblers latest news
LOAN striker Saido Berahino has left the Cobblers and returned to parent club West Bromwich Albion after completing his loan spell at Sixfields.
Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd confirmed the news this morning, although the player had announced he had returned to the Hawthorns on his Twitter account on Tuesday evening.
“Saido has gone back to West Brom and he’ll be joining a club in league one,” confirmed Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd.
“He has done very well for us but he is a young man and you can understand him wanting to play at a higher level.
“I would like to thank him for his contribution and I wish him well for the future but we draw a line under that now and move on.”
Berahino, who it is understood will sign on loan at Brentford, scored six goals in 15 appearances for Northampton Town.
The Cobblers are hoping to sign a replacement loan striker ahead of Saturday’s crucial relegation battle at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:21 AMScott McGleish must becoming to the end of his career but I still believe he would do a good job for us in the short term. He is a natural goal scorer, always gives 100% and outjumps players taller than him and was always a favourite with the fans. We need and must be due a slice of good luck anytime soon.
