Boothroyd says Nuneaton loan switch will be good for Cobblers striker Moult

The former Stoke City youngster has found first-team opportunities hard to come by in recent weeks, and manager Aidy Boothroyd wants him to get some regular football.

“This move will do Louis good,” said boss Boothroyd.

“He has been a little unfortunate not to play more than he has, but competition for places is tough up front at the moment and he needs regular football.

“I am sure he will do well for Nuneaton and we will monitor his progress.”

Moult, who is 20, has scored twice for the Cobblers this season, in successive matches in the 2-0 npower League Two win over Port Vale and the 1-1 FA Cup draw with Bradford City, both at Sixfields.

The momentum Moult was building from scoring those goals was halted by him receiving a red card at York City on November 6 which led to a three-match ban.

Since then he has made just one start, in the JP Trophy defeat to Leyton Orient, and three substitute appearances in the league.

Nuneaton are second bottom in the Blue Square Premier, but only three points adrift of safety.

Goalscoring has proved a problem for them so far this campaign, as they have scored just 37 goals in 29 league games.

They are managed by former Cobblers striker Kevin Wilkin.

Moult and his new team-mates entertain Southport tomorrow, before leaders Grimsby Town come visiting on Tuesday night.
