Aldershot Town confident Cobblers game will go ahead

Aldershot Town are confident Tuesday night’s game against the Cobblers will go ahead despite the recent bout of snowy weather.

The Shots put out on appeal on Monday for supporters to help clear the pitch from the snow that has fallen over the past few days, with suspended striker Danny Hylton among those volunteering for shovel duty.

Hylton would serve the final match of a three-game ban against Town, clearing him to play for Aldershot in their FA Cup fourth-round tie at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

There was substantial snowfall in northeast Hampshire on Sunday but the pitch has been covered for several days and will be fine to play on if temperatures remain high enough throughout Tuesday.

It is understood the majority of the snow had been cleared from the pitch covers by 4pm on Monday.

Aldershot were one of only six teams to play last weekend, drawing 0-0 at York City. They are currently three points clear of the npower League Two relegation zone and have lost seven of their 13 home league games so far this season, scoring just 11 goals in the process.
