Cobblers defender Moloney likely to miss Stourbridge date

Brendan Moloney is likely to miss Sunday's FA Cup trip to Stourbridge with an ongoing knee problem.

The 27-year-old full-back sat out the visit of Bolton Wanderers last weekend due to a minor injury concern, and Northampton boss Rob Page has confirmed that Sunday’s game in the West Midlands might be too soon for him to return.

If Moloney does miss out, that will present another opportunity to second choice right-back Aaron Phillips who impressed against Bolton.

Page said: “Obviously Brendan wasn’t involved at the weekend because of his knee and we’re still managing that.

“We’re waiting for that to settle down and possibly Sunday might be a little too soon for him.

“I thought Aaron was excellent. He hasn’t had many minutes, like Rod McDonald on the Tuesday before.

“He gave a good account of himself at Bradford and that’s what I said at the start of the season – we have a squad of 25 and I’ll need everybody.”
