Bunn keeping options open
Mark Bunn has confirmed he is happy to continue contract negotiations with the Cobblers in the wake of his 'shop window' performance at Bolton Wanderers.
Bunn was the man of the match at the Reebok Stadium as Town stunned the Premier League stalwarts with a 2-1 Carling Cup victory.
The youth-team graduate made two stunning saves, the first from Joey O'Brien's deflected free-kick, and the second a point-blank stop to deny Heidur Helguson.
There was plenty of buzz about Bunn after the game, which was watched by former Manchester United goalkeeping coach Tony Coton
.
Coton was forced to retire from his Old Trafford role through injury, but still has a direct contact with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Sources in the area suggest that Bolton may also join the chase for the player.
The Trotters have received at least two transfer bids for their reserve-team keeper , and could be looking to replace him before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
Bunn said: "When you play in games like that you're always going to get people looking at you.
"I wasn't really thinking about that at all, I just wanted to play well. I thought the whole team played well.
"I'm still in negotiations with the gaffer. We're still talking about it."
On Bunn, chairman David Cardoza said: "He's excelling on the big stages but it would be great if he could stay here.
"Talks are still going on and we'll see what happens."
Meanwhile, the man whose goals shot down Bolton will this week find out the extent of his knee ligament problem.
Adebayo Akinfenwa says he feels 'like Frankenstein' at the moment, but is happy to play through the pain barrier until he is told otherwise.
"I sound like Frankenstein, I'm getting patched up all over the place," he said. "I've got a niggling knee problem which I'm going to see someone about this week.
"I should know more on that soon. I'm going to sit down with the guy and talk to him about it.
"I didn't feel too bad in this game, I was a bit tired towards the end but I didn't feel too bad body-wise.
"The head thing is just a superficial wound, it's just a battle scar.
Footballers get them all the time and the wife said I still look cute so I can't really complain."
