Stand-in boss viewed Tuesday's draw at Ipswich from the gantry

Don't be too surprised if Jon Brady is not spotted in the away dugout during tomorrow's Sky Bet League One fixture at Milton Keynes Dons.

Town's stand-in manager took a different perspective for Tuesday's goalless draw at Ipswich when he viewed the action from up high, something he might now do on a regular basis.

That left assistants Ian Sampson and Marc Richards to issue instructions from the touchline.

"I tried something different personally on Tuesday because I went up into the gantry to get a better overview, a bit like rugby coaches do," said Brady.

"I felt better from there because I could see an overview and I could be on the game tactically and quickly. We had a radio down to Marc and Sammo.

"I think with the work we have put into the players, I already feel there is a massive trust so I don't need to be on the touchline.

"We've got Sammo and Marc there and Dan (Watson) as well. Everyone has their role to play. We're trying to be selfless in our approach for the greater cause which is maintaining our status in League One.

"For me, right now, to be on things as they happen and see them happen, I feel it's best for me to be up there and then Sammo and Marc can marshal things down on the touchline.

"We can communicate and talk to each other but there's already so much trust. We're only seven or eight days in but I feel that much trust to be comfortable to do that."

Asked how he's finding the job eight days in, Brady added: "I feel alive in the moment and I feel fully focused along with all the players as well as the staff.

"I've had such great support from everyone and there's a huge togetherness and it's all for the greater goal - everything we do is to try and keep us in this division. It's as simple as that. Everyone is selfless in their approach.

"The players are setting their own expectation levels for their performances and that gives them some purpose to work towards the weekend.

"It gives them accountability and responsibility and that's what you need in any line of work and I think they're taking that on-board really well right now."
