A five-way battle to stop the slide for Rothwell
From holding a strong hand before Easter, Rothwell Town find themselves in danger of being out-drawn in the Division One Midlands relegation battle.
Although the Bones are unbeaten in their last three matches, they have only taken five points out of nine while sides around them have either matched their efforts or picked up crucial wins.
Rothwell go into tomorrow's game at Bromsgrove Rovers right in the thick of a five-way battle to avoid joining Malvern Town in leaving the division by the wrong end.
As it stands, just three points covers the Bones, Arlesey Town, Woodford United, Dunstable Town and Barton Rovers.
Barton and Woodford have just two games left, Bones and Arlesey three and Dunstable fourth. It's all down to who blinks first.
Bones boss Rob Dunion can at least take heart from the fact his team have started picking up points again without playing at their best.
Rothwell need that trend to continue for the rest of the season and their prospects appear good against a mid-table side that has only won once in its last six and has only pride to play for.
"It's another game where we have to go for the win and we have to go there with a plan for taking points," said Dunion.
"We have to go for the win, a draw is no good to us at this stage.
"We have three games left and six points will see us safe but that's easier said than done.
"It comes down to the old factor of needing to put the ball in the net but also remembering to enjoy playing as well.
"We're going there to do something we enjoy, namely play football.
"Once we start finding it a chore, then we're in trouble."
Mark Hackett returns to bolster the defence in the only change to the Bones squad.
Rothwell from: Dorrill, Hackett, White, Flannigan, Maddox, Glass, F Koriya, Maude, Boyle-Chong, Marlow, Byrne, Goodall, Wiltshire, Locklin, Linton, McIlwain.
