Enjoyment is the key now for forward Jon
Rothwell Town boss Rob Dunion hopes last week's thrashing of Aylesbury will inspire his side to bigger and better things.
The Bones were 5-0 winners over the bottom side in the Zamaretto League Division One Midlands.
And, while he admits tomorrow's trip to Slough provides a far sterner test, he feels goals for Jon Stevenson and Kevin Byrne last week could help them push on for the rest of the season.
"A performance like that does help," Dunion said. "We played very well and made them look ordinary.
"We can take confidence from that game as it gives us all a lift.
"You could say this weekend will be tougher! It's a slightly harder game.
"But we'll be going there fairly confident – not over confident – because our away form is not bad and we are playing well.
"Last week was probably the best game Jon Stevenson has played for a long time.
"I said to him that it is now up to him to sustain that level.
"He's obviously got a reputation and he has to live with that. I
wouldn't say it is a burden to him but hopefully he can now start to enjoy his football.
"It could mean a little bit of a weight has been lifted and he can flourish and go on from here.
"It is still early days for him here and we have to realise how he plays his football as much as he has to learn how to fit into our team
system."
Dunion is well aware of the threat Slough will pose.
They have won six of their nine games so far and have claimed
maximum points in four of their five home league matches.
And the Bones boss will be drilling the importance of the match into his side.
"It was nice to get the goals last week. But the important thing was the clean sheet," he added.
"That is also the critical thing tomorrow.
"We need to go as long as possible without conceding a goal and then we have a good chance.
"It is going to be tough there. They are a good side who are going well at the moment.
"They also play at Beaconsfield which is a difficult pitch.
"But after this we have three games at home. That makes it
critical we come back with at least a point so we can go into those home matches with another good result behind us."
Lee Crockett is still missing through injury so Tom Cross
continues to deputise in goal.
David Glass returns to the squad having recovered from a knee
problem.
Jason Turner, meanwhile, has joined Desborough Town on loan for a couple of weeks.
"He is still our player and he will come back to us," Dunion explained. "But he has not had much football recently and we feel he needs some games to recover his sharpness."
