Dunn urges his Cobblers team-mates to improve
Cobblers keeper Chris Dunn says his team-mates need to 'take a look at themselves' ahead of Saturday's npower League Two game at Aldershot.
Dunn made his first start of the season against Hartlepool United in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday night and was left fuming as Town were thrashed 4-0.
It was tough to take for the 22-year-old, who had kept his side in the match with a string of fine saves during the first 45 minutes.
Ian Sampson's men eventually succumbed to concede four times in nine second half minutes and see their participation in this year's competition end at stage one.
And Dunn, who was making his comeback from an ankle injury sustained during pre-season, feels the Cobblers players must learn from their mistakes if they are to register their first win of the league season at the Recreation Ground.
He said: "It was disappointing to go all the way to Hartlepool and get beaten in that way.
"On a personal note, I think I kept us in it first half and then second half it's just not good enough from the boys.
"We couldn't get the ball, they were just camped in our half and we've got to be better than that. It was the worst I've seen us play this season.
"You've got to try and be positive when it's still at 0-0, even though they have had chances, but the boys have got to take a look at themselves and learn from that.
"The boys will know that it wasn't good enough and they've just got to improve and change it for the weekend."
It was a real baptism of fire for Dunn in midweek as he was bombarded with shots from the outset, tipping over a James Brown effort inside the first minute.
But despite having to fling himself across his goal on numerous occasions, the 6ft 4in stopper claims he is feeling sharp and he will now be hoping to regain the Town No. 1 spot when Tottenham loanee Oscar Jansson returns to his parent club following Saturday's game.
"I feel good," said Dunn. "I started training again last week and I've just gradually built it up. But I'm feeling good and I feel fairly sharp."
