Dunion's proud with a point for young Bones
Rothwell Town will be desperately looking forward to a home game tomorrow.
They drew 0-0 with AFC Sudbury last night bringing to an end a run of four successive away games – and a travelling distance of around 800 miles in 10 days.
Their point last night came against all the odds as boss Rob Dunion was forced to draft in six youth team players.
So a battling draw was pleasing for the Bones manager.
"I'm very proud of them," he stated.
"If you asked me at two in the afternoon I would probably have taken a
postponement!
"But we weren't under the cosh much – we gave a bit and they gave a bit – and I have to say I'm proud of the way we played.
"It also takes us through to the 30-point mark and that's a good milestone to hit.
"The shame with playing the youngsters is that we still had a youth team fixture to fulfil and they were beaten 6-0 at home by Stamford.
"But these lads have had a taste of Southern League football and that's a good experience for them."
The Bones now finally get a chance to play at home again when Bedworth visit Cecil Street tomorrow.
It will be a pleasure to go back to base and it will also see the
welcome return of some older heads.
"We've got four players coming back now," Dunion added.
"Jason Turner, Robbie Maddox, Brett Darby and Adam Sturgess will return and they've got a few league appearances between them.
"It will be nice to get a run of games going at home.
"And, with them coming thick and fast, it does mean if we lose a game we quickly get the next chance."
