Dunion frustrated as the Bones are denied
Rob Dunion was left angry and frustrated after an inept refereeing performance and a late winner denied his Rothwell Town side of any points at Bromsgrove Rovers.
The Bones were reduced to 10 men midway through the first half when Sam Maude was shown a straight red for what looked like an innocuous tackle.
Bones manager Dunion said: "It was very contentious. It wasn't even a yellow, let alone a red card.
"It was an innocuous tackle but the referee allowed himself to be bullied by a noisy crowd. He ruined the game.
"It was an excellent performance by our lads.
"We controlled the game with 11 men and still looked comfortable with 10. We never looked like we would lose it. But they caught us out right at the very end. It's heartbreaking."
Further to Maude's sending-off, Bromsgrove's Dexter Ravenhill twice kicked the ball out of the ground, having already been booked on 10 minutes. But the referee seemed to miss these mandatory yellow card offences.
Rothwell defended stoutly until the last minute of added time when Gavin Winster's long throw was only cleared to the edge of the box and Danny Campbell found the back of the net with an unstoppable shot.
The Bones deserved at least a point for their efforts and will hope to bounce back from this injustice on Saturday against Hitchin Town at Cecil Street.
