Dunion delight at display
Rob Dunion was delighted with Rothwell Town's performance, calling the opening half an hour "probably the best we have played this season".
The Bones raced into a two-goal lead and went on to claim three points – despite a couple of comebacks by Soham Town Rangers.
Dunion said: "We needed a third to kill them off but we were always in
control of the game.
"They gave us a hard game but it was a thoroughly deserved victory.
"It was an excellent performance and we scored four goals so I've got to be happy.
"Considering the conditions, we played decent football and we're going back in the right direction."
Martin Flannigan opened the scoring on nine minutes with a 30-yard piledriver into the top corner which gave Ian Pledger no chance in goal.
Four minutes later Rothwell doubled their lead as Brett Darby shot from the edge of the box.
Scott Carter pounced on a mix-up in the home defence and tapped home to pull one back.
Soham were then in the ascendancy and putting on pressure until the 73rd minute when Kevin Byrne got Rothwell's third with a stooping header from Jon Stevenson's cross.
Substitute Deacon Napier's mazy run from the halfway line ended with a neat finish but Simon Underwood wrapped it up as Pledger spilled a powerful shot.
