Darlington win puts Cobblers in play-off zone
FIRS-HALF goals from John Johnson and Abdul Osman gave the Cobblers a well-earned victory over relegation-haunted Darlington at Sixfields.
It is a result that - combined with Shrewsbury's defeat to Rochdale - means Northampton now occupy the final Coca-Cola League Two play-off place
On-loan Middlesbrough full-back Johnson got the ball rolling by hammering in a loose ball after Adebayo Akinfenwa's shot had rebounded out off the crossbar.
And Osman doubled Town's advantage with a similar strike with five minutes of the half to play after keeper Shane Redmond had failed to collect a cross.
Billy McKay had earlier seen a left-footed volley saved at close range, although there were few chances with the home side never getting out of first gear in what was eventually a comfortable 2-0 triumph.
