The hosts required only the morning session to take the six wickets they required with the margin of victory an emphatic innings and 120 runs.

Things couldn’t have started any worse for the County who lost Rob Newton, caught at point off Ryan Sidebottom, before he had the chance to add to his overnight score of 11.

Nightwatchman Maurice Chammers fell shortly afterwards and the trio of Andrew Hall, Steven Crook and David Willey failed to offer much in the way of resistance.

That was provided by the last wicket pair of David Murphy (23no) and Muhammad Azharullah (23) who added 50 before Adil Rashid had the latter caught behind just before the lunch interval.

Next up for the County is the visit of Lancashire to the County Ground with the game getting under way on Sunday.
