Poor overnight weather prevented any early prospect of play and the rain continued through until the scheduled lunch interval.

While the players were forced to bide their time in the pavilion, hope was regained when the clouds lifted and two inspections were called by umpires Martin Gough and Neil Bainton in the afternoon.

But rain returned at around 3.30pm to render the outfield unplayable for the rest of the day.

All concerned will try again on Tuesday morning at 11am.
