Moin Ashraf is hoping there will be more magical nights in Steelbacks colours to come after his impressive debut in the win against Durham.

Ashraf finished with figures of three for 17 from his three overs as he ripped through the Jets batting line-up at the County Ground.

The 24-year-old’s first two overs yielded just five runs as he dismissed three Durham batsmen, with the away side struggling at nine for four.

And the Steelbacks eventually completed the job, easily defending their 161 for nine as they secured a 26-run success and went top of the NatWest T20 Blast North Group.

“It was a great start, not only for myself but from the team,” said former Yorkshire seamer Ashraf, who recently joined the Steelbacks on a short-team deal.

“We came out with a great intensity, looking to bowl the lines we wanted to and we got more swing than we expected.

“We got more purchase from the wicket than they did and it worked for us.

“It was just my day today and hopefully there’s more to come.”
