County seconds open with Middlesex clash

Northants Second XI coach Phil Rowe

Northants Second XI coach Phil Rowe

Northamptonshire’s second string will start their 2013 campaign against Middlesex in early April.

Phil Rowe’s side travel to Radlett on April 9 to face the Londoners in a Second XI Trophy encounter.

The following day they will face the same opposition, again at Radlett, in their first Second XI Championship fixture.

Northants, who are in the southern section alongside Middlesex, Hampshire, Somerset, Essex, Surrey, Gloucestershire, Kent and Sussex, will play eight Championship and nine Trophy games during the season with Unicorns A joining the group for the limited overs competition.

The Second XI will also compete in the Twenty20 tournament with their group games being against Leicestershire, Essex, Middlesex and the Unicorns.

The schedule is also boosted by a number of friendlies throughout the summer.
