Cobblers: Mark Bunn 'still undecided' on contract

Mark Bun nsays he is 'undecided' about whether to sign a new contract with the Cobblers.

The highly-rated goalkeeper has been locked in talks with Sixfields chief David Cardoza and manager Stuart Gray for the past two months.

The club are desperate to get Bunn under contract as his current deal expires in the summer, and as the player would have turned 24 by then he will be eligible to leave the club under the Bosman ruling.

But the player is happy to continue talking terms with Town while mulling over his next move.

"I'm still a bit undecided on my future," he said. "I'm very happy here at Northampton at the moment.

"I'm still in talks with Stuart Gray about a contract and we'll wait and see what happens with that.

"We've been talking through the summer and we'll just have to see what happens."

To date, only Nottingham Forest have made a concrete offer for Bunn, although there are no shortage of clubs interested.

The 23-year-old is still very much on the radar of Derby County coach Gary Walsh, and Ipswich may be tempted to look at Bunn – despite re-signing Richard Wright – if the price was right.

Any interested parties may now play a waiting game and pick Bunn up for nothing in the summer, as this would also give them the chance to scout the youngster for another season and see if he can maintain his form.
