The Cobblers have signed Brentford striker Luke Norris on a month’s loan, and the 20-year-old is set to go straight into the squad for Saturday’s clash with Dagenham & Redbridge.
Norris is 6ft 1in and has played four times for the Bees, three of them this season, made up of one start and three substitute appearances.
He has scored one goal, against AFC Wimbledon in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy this season.
“Luke is a centre forward who is strong and quick and we have watched him for a while,” said Town boss Aidy Boothroyd.
“He is one of those players on our under 21 list who we have done our homework on.
“With our injuries at the moment we need to add up front and I am sure he can come in and do a good job for us.
“We have seen a lot of Brentford’s Under-21 games, and this is part of our scouting team as Andy (King) and myself are out watching games regularly.
“Luke is a young man that is similar to Jacob Blyth in many ways, and I think he will come in and improve us.”
Norris joined Brentford in the summer of 2010 having previously played at non-League level for Hitchin Town.
He was a regular scorer in the Bees’ reserve team in 2011/12 and last season was Brentford’s top scorer in the Professional Development League Two South, netting 10 goals in 18 games.
Norris has had one previous spell out on loan when he played for Conference South side Boreham Wood last season.
He impressed there, scoring three times in seven appearances.
Norris has been allocated squad number 33 at the Cobblers.
