Cobblers: Key man injured in Torquay stalemate

THE Cobblers were forced to settle for a point against Torquay United at Sixfields, and slipping out of the play-offs as a result.

And there was further anguish for the club's supporters when leading goalscorer Adebayo Akinfenwa went off injured on the half-hour mark.

Torquay had the better chances to score in the first, with Nicky Wroe coming closest with a fierce shot that was blocked by Craig Hinton in the box.

Town improved in the second half, and hit the bar with a swirling Liam Davis volley, but they could not find a way through and had to make do with a draw.
