Cobblers defender McCready joins Morecambe

Cobblers defender Chris McCready has joined Morecambe on a free transfer.

McCready, who joined the Cobblers in the summer of 2009, made 18 appearances last season was made available for transfer by manager Ian Sampson earlier this summer.

"This is a good move for Chris," said boss Ian Sampson.

"His first team opportunities here would have been limited as we have a number of central defenders on our books who in all honesty would have been above Chris in the pecking order this season. This move gives him the opportunity to play regular football and that has to be good for him.

"We part on good terms - we thank Chris for his efforts and wish him well at this new club."
