Cardoza happy with response to season-ticket offer

Northampton Town's revolutionary season-ticket deal has brought in a new generation of Sixfields supporters, according to chairman David Cardoza.

And the team's recent form under manager Ian Sampson has also led to 'brisk' sales, which it is understood will comfortably eclipse this year's numbers.

The club are currently selling season passes in the Dave Bowen Stand for 199, with a seven nights accommodation thrown in, in a deal that runs until 5pm tomorrow.

It is an incentive that has led not only to the majority of this year's season-ticket holders renewing, but also to a wave of new supporters signing up for the first time.

"We won't really know any definite figures until the end of the week but sales have been very brisk, very good," said Cardoza.

"I think the offer has brought a lot of new people in, we're seeing a lot of new names, but the results we've had recently have made a difference as well. We will get more season-ticket holders than we did for this season and I think a big reason for that is the feeling around the place and the results Sammo has been getting.

"It's good to be on a run, put it like that. This time last season we were really starting to struggle and that affected us.

"We're seeing parents getting tickets in the west stand now and getting ones for the kids behind the goal and that's quite a new thing."

Sampson, meanwhile, has hinted he may make changes to his team for the game at Port Vale this weekend.

The same outfield 10 has been selected for the past two matches and both have resulted in wins, but Ryan Gilligan and Kevin Thornton are now back from suspension.

Luke Guttridge should also recover from a toe injury in time to play, making it a treble boost to the midfield artillery.

And Sampson said: "I don't have a first 11 at all. I have a squad, and if that 11 that played on Saturday suits playing against Port Vale then they'll play.

"If it needs tweaking and we think if we bring another player in that it will benefit the team then we'll do that.

"It's nice to keep the same side but a certain player might not be the right player to play against Port Vale at the weekend."
