Out with old and in with new County Association
A NEW era has been ushered in for Northamptonshire bowls as the old separate men’s and ladies associations were dissolved and replaced with the new amalgamated Bowls Northamptonshire.
The two old associations held their final annual meetings at Abington on January 31, at the conclusion of which a resolution to dissolve them was passed.
Both will now function as one association under the Bowls Northamptonshire banner.
At the last meeting of the men’s Association, life member Peter Kneeshaw was presented with a gift for his work, including being accounts auditor for more than 30 years.
County secretary Laurie Harrison was also made a life member in recognition of his long service to the association. Bowls Northamptonshire will be established with an overseeing executive committee made up of both genders, with separate men’s and ladies’ sections for day-to-day bowling requirements.

It is expected that the change will hardly impinge on the actual bowling activities for men and women, but it will be administered by a small executive with men and women represented thereon.
The County vice-presidents lost 118-90 to Rushden in their latest friendly.
