Daventry IBC hosted the county finals last week, with matches being hosted from Thursday through to Sunday.
Connor Cinato is the men’s champion after the Kingsthorpe IBC bowler beat Northampton & District’s Chris Bland 21-18.
After 23 ends of play Cinato had just a one-shot lead at 19-18, but unfortunately for Bland, who had been drawing so well to the jack, on the 24th end he was not close enough and Cinato, with his last bowl of that end was able to draw a second shot to claim the match.
Cinato also won the Under-25 singles, easing past Kettering Lodge’s Connor Rollings 21-7.
In the men’s pairs, Jason Bryan and Jim McKee of Kingsthorpe beat Wellingborough’s Scott Johnson and Jamie Walker 17-11.
Iain Walker, David Walker and Ray Castle of Kingsthorpe BC claimed the triples title as they beat Andy Smith, Richard Lemon and Chris Bland from Northampton & District 15-14.
The fours winners were Wellingborough’s Matt Pownall, Callum Height, Paul Broderick and Darren Childs, beating Northampton & District’s Chris Bland, Alan Ramscar, Andy Smith and Richard Lemon.
Mark Turner of Kettering Lodge won the unbadged singles as he beat Kingsthorpe’s Tom Wellburn 21-17.
The Tipler Rose Bowl is a fours competition for men over 60, and it was won by Desboroough’s Jim Diver, Dougie Cooper, Pete Mellor and John Haines, beating Rushden Town’s Paul Munday, Mick Corbyn, Malc Mattinson and Martin Keech 23-12.
In the ladies singles, Rebecca Wigfield of Desborough IBC beat Linda Warren from Northampton & District IBC 21-12
In the ladies pairs, Katie Smith and Tina Broderick of Wellingborough BC beat Billie Swift and Joyce Porter from Northampton & District IBC 21-20.
Julie Spreadbury, Joan Watts and Vicki Rushall of Daventry IBC made home advantage count as they beat Sue Briggs, Pat Starsmore and Audrey Height of Kettering Lodge 19-16 to win the ladies triples.
The ladies fours was won by Wellingborough’s Jean Burgess, Marlene Armitage, Sue Collins and Tina Broderick, who were 28-16 winners over Northampton & District’s Jackie Gale, Louise Haladij, Sue Lane and Elaine Cox.
In the ladies Under-25 singles, Northampton & District’s Billie Swift claimed victory as she saw off club-mate Louise Haladij 21-11.
In the Under-15 singles there was another with for Northampton & District as Jack Lee beat Tay O’Neill from Desborough IBC 21-18.
The 15-18 singles saw Adam Pitfield of Wellingborough beat Billie Swift of Northampton & District 21-4. Connor Rollings and Kieran Rollings of Kettering Lodge saw off Maisie Lee and Jack Lee of Northampton & District 30-12 to win the Under-18 pairs.
Northampton pip Boro to the title
NORTHAMPTON & District are celebrating after pipping Wellingborough to the Northants Men’s County Triples League title.
Northampton needed a 4 ½ point haul from the final match of the seasion against Rushden Town to overhaul Wellingborough and win the league, and they did the business as they won 89-64 to claim five points and top spot.
It was just reward for Northampton’s efforts as they won all six league games through the season.
