Bones broken by Bury

A night to forget for Rothwell Town as they were humiliated by Bury Town for the second time this season in BGB Southern League Division One Midlands.

Sam Reed scored five for the home side as they ripped the Bones apart in the second half after Rob Dunion's men were forced to play for an hour with 10 men following Robbie Maddox's sending off on 30 minutes.

It might have been so different for Rothwell had Michael Boyle-Chong's ninth-minute shot gone in instead of hitting the post and bouncing into the keeper's hands.

Danny Pownell and Kevin Byrne also went close for the Bones before Maddox saw red and the tide turned.

Reed scrambled home his first on 44 minutes and his second soon after half-time. Andrew Wood got the third just past the hour before the Bones totally collapsed in the final 20 minutes.

Ben Coker made it 4-0 on 70 minutes and Reed then got three in the next nine minutes to equal the seven Bury scored at Cecil Street. Lee Smith then made it eight in the last minute.
