Bones boss is ready for return to action
Rothwell Town are looking forward to actually playing a game again tomorrow when they head to Bromsgrove Rovers in the Zamaretto League.
A combination of cup commitments for opponents and bad weather
postponements mean the Bones have only played once in the last three weeks.
And boss Rob Dunion says his players are now itching to get back to the business of the Division One Midlands promotion challenge.
"There's so many times you can go shopping on a weekend, even in December," he said.
"I think the lads are starting to get bored now and all of them are just desperate to get back out there and kick a ball in anger again.
"Unbelievably, despite everyone else playing all around us, we are still sixth in the league but we need to start consolidating now.
"We have been a bit erratic over the last couple of months, much as Bromsgrove have in a way.
"But what we need now is a period of stability and to start getting into the mindset of picking up something from every game, be it a win or a draw, but not getting beaten.
"If we do that, we'll find the consistency to make sure we keep picking up points regularly and that will keep us in the picture at the top.
"I think everyone at the club would like to be in the mix at the right end of the table for a change."
Bromsgrove come into the game with only one win in their last six and in the bottom three after having 10 points deducted for going into administration.
But despite that, Dunion still feels his side will face a tough test.
"The position is slightly false, without the points deduction, they'd be comfortably in mid-table," he said.
"They've a good set-up there and I think tomorrow's game really should be on and we will need to play well.
"Above all else, we need to start using the ball a lot better and
keeping the ball a lot better, start playing much smarter.
"Against Marlow last time out our ball retention was poor and we need to vastly improve on that."
One thing the lack of games has done for Dunion is allowing him to get his squad fully fit again.
And with Steve Julian and Kevin Byrne back in the fold, the Bones have a clean bill of health for tomorrow's game.
