Bones fail to shine in a 'flat' performance
Rob Dunion admitted his Rothwell Town side were very poor as they lost narrowly to Marlow in Zamaretto League Division One Midlands.
The Bones manager said: "Our performance was very flat. In fact the whole game was very flat.
"Performance-wise, we just couldn't raise the bar.
"It was just a poor performance all round and a game to put to bed very quickly.
"To put it politely, you would say it was not a good day at the office."
The all-important goal came after just nine minutes, when Marlow's Jon Isaac scored to seal all three points for his team.
Rothwell did have their chances, however, and after just two minutes
following a Brett Darby corner, Robbie Maddox's header was cleared off the line.
And shortly after Marlow's goal, Maddox had another effort blocked on the line, following a Dominic Hallows corner.
Rothwell continued to push and Jon Stevenson forced a save from home keeper Kieran Drake, whose performance earned him a third consecutive clean sheet.
At the other end, Lee Crockett was called upon to make a brilliant save from a Danny Stone header.
Crockett thwarted Stone again after the break, while Rothwell had a couple more chances to level through Tom Mills, who headed wide, and Maddox whose long-range shot was spilled by Drake.
But neither side could find the back of the net again and the game petered out to a lacklustre finish.
Rothwell will try to get back on track tomorrow night when they face Sutton Coldfield at Cecil Street.
