Bayo and Guinan to fire for Town
Dean Beckwith is backing new strike pair Adebayo Akinfenwa and Steve Guinan to fire Northampton Town to Coca-Cola League Two glory.
Both players hit the goal trail in losing battles against relegation last season, with Akinfenwa scoring 15 for the Cobblers and Guinan the same amount for a toothless Hereford side that managed only 42 league goals all season.
Now Town boss Stuart Gray is banking on the pair striking up the sort of chemistry that will see the goals flow and push the Cobblers towards top spot in the league two table.
Beckwith certainly feels the pair have the potential to click, and said: "Bayo is a big strong lad up front, and hopefully in league two he will score some goals.
"I think he and Steve will be a good partnership. They have got loads of experience, strength and goals between them, so hopefully they will have a good season."
Beckwith has played in the same Bulls team as Guinan for the past two seasons, and he feels the Cobblers have made a very good signing.
"Steve has got bags of experience," said Beckwith. "He had a good season last season and scored 15 goals in a team which got relegated.
"We weren't really creating too many chances for him, but he still managed to score plenty of goals, because he is a goalscorer.
"He leads the line well, he has plenty of enthusiasm and experience, and he will bring a lot to the team."
Beckwith signed for the Cobblers this week as a replacement for Mark Hughes, and he admits he is surprised to be joining a squad preparing for life in league two.
The big defender played twice against Town last season, with Hereford being outclassed 2-0 in the teams' first meeting at Edgar Street, and then narrowly losing 2-1 at Sixfields towards the end of the season.
Beckwith was impressed with Town on both occasions, and admitted: "I was surprised that Northampton got relegated. When they played at Edgar Street they beat us comfortably and our goalkeeper had a very good game that day.
"When Northampton beat us 2-1 at
