Up against the cream of European matchmen, Steve Ringer came oh so close to winning his second Walterland Masters in three years!
Fishing the 180 peg prestige match on a ‘big’ canal in Hungary, he won his section on day-one and made second-in-section on day two.
That gave him three points – a score shared with four others...and he finished up fourth overall on weight, with his Diawa team fifth from 36.
There were some big fish about, too. The day-two winner included a 38lb carp in his catch, caught on the pole fishing to full international rules!
STANWICK top rod this week was Don McKinness with a 37-12 from Elsons. Alex Grice had three to 26lb and Nathan Tabor a 22 and two 25s. Dan Wright netted a 21-10 from Mallard.

FANCY a shot at £15,000? That cash could be split between the top four pairs in this year’s national canal pairs championships if it is a series sell-out.
