A bad trip ends in defeat for Bones

Rothwell Town endured a nightmare trip down to Hitchin before suffering a defeat against the Southern League Division One Midlands leaders.

The Bones' coach was stranded in traffic on the M1 and finally arrived at Top Field in time for an 8.40pm kick-off.

It was hardly the best preparation for Rob Dunion's men and they had just 10 minutes to warm-up before taking on the table-toppers.

The first half was goalless but Hitchin took the lead 10 minutes into the second period through Jamie Arlick.

The Canaries rubbed salt into the Rothwell wounds with three more goals in the final 18 minutes.Arlick made it 2-0 and Ieuan Lewis added the third.

And the Bones' miserable evening was rounded off in the final minute when Louis Lee curled home the fourth.
