Will Martin scored a hat-trick of tries as Old Northamptonians romped to a convincing 48-5 win over Leicester Vipers.
Martin got the ball rolling after just two minutes when he dotted down and added the conversion himself.

Vipers quickly replied with a try of their own to make it 7-5, but that was to be the vistors' only score of the day.

Martin kicked a penalty to make it 10-5 before the game degenerated into a scrappy affair.

ONs finally got back on the scoresheet when Lewis Barker went over and Martin converted to send the Billing Road side 17-5 clear.

It was 24-5 before half-time when a sweeping move involving Richard Blank and Sam Howes ended with Martin touching down and converting again.

A broken ankle suffered by a Vipers player meant there was a 40-minute delay, and on the restart it was one-way traffic.

Martin completed his hat-trick and then there were further tries from Sam Street, Ben Briddon and Blank, with Martin adding another couple of conversions to round off the scoring.

Martin ended the day with an impressive 28-point haul.

The one dampener on the day for ONs was that Rose dislocated his shoulder.
