Manchester United trumpet themselves as the biggest club in the world.
This week they are finding out they are anything but.

Any way you want to look at it, they are in Real Madrid's shadow. In terms of prestige, global power, European Cups, league titles...you name it.

Cristiano Ronaldo knows it. Which is why he's kicking at the emergency exit door at Old Trafford.

United had a good season, but they got lucky in Europe and only won the Premier League because Chelsea shot themselves in the foot so many times last season.

Ronaldo can make himself a better footballer, and a wealthier individual, by leaving United for a bigger club.

Just as Michael Carrick improved his lot by leaving London for Fergie. As did Rio Ferdinand by moving from Leeds.

Big clubs feed on the better players of smaller clubs. That's what Real Madrid are now doing with Manchester United.

Fergie can have the biggest strop of all time, he can scream himself redder than he's ever coloured his cheeks before, but it won't make any difference.

The choice in front of Ronaldo is another season bullying flat-footed English defenders alongside the likes of Wes Brown, Darren Fletcher and Ji-sung Park in the Manchester rain or showing off his skills in the sunshine of Madrid in a team of superstars.

Bit of a no-brainer, really.

United, you're not quite as big as you think.

Zae,

Wow, worst article ever written anywhere.

Where is to say? United were clearly the best team in England and only their late hiccups allowed Chelsea to get anywhere near them. One point proved wrong.

United got lucky in Europe? They were unbeaten in the competition throughout, conceding the least goals. Two points proved wrong.

Real are bigger? Well, according to financial results, United are valued higher, and according to any research, they have more fans. And have a bigger merchandising income as well.

Ronaldo can make him a better footballer among a team of superstars? A team of superstars who never got past the last 16 of the Champions League in the last few seasons? Who were knocked out by AS Roma, losing home and away? You remember Roma, right? The team United beat with ease every time they meet? They won the poorest of poor leagues against a Barcelona side who could not be arsed to fight against smaller teams...

As for Fletcher, Park and Brown... at Real he'll be among Miguel Torres, Michel Salgado and Soldado. Who are they? Oh but these names supported your poor argument of course. So you decided that mentioning the likes of Tevez, Rooney, Ferdinand would do no favours for your case.

I seriously suggest that you quit journalism as your intelligence levels obviously do not reach the required level for this job.

Oh, and as for bigger clubs feeding on better players of smaller clubs: I reckon that the way United offloaded the over-the-hill Beckham, Van Nistelrooy and Heinze to Real Madrid would suggest the relation is differing from your opinion...

Oh Bla Di Oh Bla Da,

Quite possibly the worst bit of journalism going!

Factually incorrect, huge levels of personal bias tainting the whole article and poorly written.

Give up now sunshine, how poor must your career be that you are a sports hack for a third-rate rag in Northampton commenting on Manchester United!

Target audience and all that
