Old Scouts kept the pressure on leaders Old Northamptonians with an emphatic 34-3 win over town rivals Boys Brigade Old Boys.
Playing with the strong wind at their backs in the first half, Scouts managed to open up a 19-0 lead.

That came about thanks to tries from Josh Stannard, Danny Bayes and Tom Hume – his first for the club – with James Nimmo kicking two conversions.

Scouts knew the second half would be a test against the wind, but despite BB pulling back three points with a penalty, they were unable to penetrate the Scouts defence again.

Not only that, Scouts bossed the rest of the game to score three more tries.

The pick of the bunch was arguably the first when, following several drives, the ball was kept in hand for Dan Warren to touch down.

The second came after some strong running by full-back Billy Whizz Harbottle which set up Hawkins, and the final score came from flanker Luke Reeves.

Nimmo missed all three difficult conversions against the, wind but that did not deter from his man of the match performance.

BB battled manfully throughout, and but for an injury to prop Colin Gardner might have made more of a fist of the match in the second half.

Their points came via a penalty from Alex Milne, and they will be hoping to notch their first league win of the season when they entertain Stewarts & Lloyds on Saturday.
