Saints have announced that Mark Robinson will be leaving the club at the end of the season by mutual agreement.
The 32-year-old scrum-half has spent the last five seasons at Franklin's Gardens, making 122 appearances for the Saints.

But Robinson has been playing second fiddle to Johnny Howard in recent games and with the signing of highly-rated scrum-half Ben Foden from Sale Sharks for next season he clearly feels the time is right to move on.

The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to Wasps, but his departure will come as a huge blow to Saints fans.

Robinson, who was voted as Player of the Year by Saints fans at the end of last season, once again received a huge cheer from the Franklin's Gardens crowd on Saturday when he came on for Howard.

Director of rugby Jim Mallinder said: "Sharky is as popular as ever with the fans and I am sure that there will be plenty of interest among other clubs in offering him a contract.

"I know that Mark is keen to continue to develop his business interests alongside his playing commitments next year and we wish him all the best for the future."
