Kingsthorpe began their centenary celebrations in style by hosting a Hickory Day competition.
All 20 four-player teams competed with a set of old style clubs, with the winning quartet in the morning being Ian Willmer, Peter Towloco, Mick Ward and his son Matt Ward on 72 points.

The afternoon winning total of 77 points belonged to Martin Phelan, Jake Croxford, John English and Tim Smethers.

With the club set to hold a series of comps in a busy few weeks, the Famous Grouse Foursomes went to Trevor Hill and Gordon Heeley by just half a shot from Kyle Knight and Lee Hitchcock (net 70).

Knight was also runner-up in the Centenary Greensomes, in partnership with Simon Reardon, as the scratch team man's 37 points was four less than Les Hall and Dave Harris.
