Northants County moved a significant step closer to their first Scratch League title this century with a 5-3 away victory over championship rivals Collingtree Park in division one.
The visitors began in positive fashion with Neil Connolly beating namesake Ray Connolly on the 17th hole before county champion Stuart Ashwood defeated Luke Hillier 3&2.

Although the next two matches both went to the wire, County retained their tw
o-point lead as Tony Lord halved with Dave Morris and Andrew Myers finished level with Brendon Moss.

Collingtree's Lee Flindall was no match for Matt Bird as the County man recorded a devastating 7&5 win to ensure at least a draw for the away team.

The hosts picked up their first win when Johnny Stevens defeated Harry Larkins on the 17th, but County quickly closed out the match as John Evans beat Simon Smith on the same hole.

With points difference possibly being crucial at the end of the season, home man Ben Garrett beat Andy Bilson 3&2 in the final match to keep Collingtree at the head of the pack.

Peterborough Milton recorded their first scratch league win since April with a 6-2 home victory over Wellingborough.

The away side got off to a good start with Ryan Evans defeating Adrian Firman 4&2 in the opening match.

Richard Cole and Geoff Dyson took the next two points for Milton, but Rab Wilson's 5&4 victory over Jamie Wilson left the match evenly poised at 2-2.

Peterborough's Rory Edwards beat Paul Saunders to give the hosts the lead but, with both the next two matches reaching the 18th, the overall result was still in the balance.

However, it was Milton who grabbed both points as Tom Burgh defeated Sam Waite and Chris White beat Jon Harris - both by one-hole margins.
