Northampton Town chairman David Cardoza insists that Adebayo Akinfenwa has been offered 'a really big' deal to stay with the Cobblers.
Leyton Orient have been linked with the big striker, who scored seven goals in 13 starts for Cobblers.

Manager Stuart Gray revealed last week that the former Swansea striker had been offered a new contract, and Cardoza said: "We'd like to keep Bayo and I have made him a really big offer.

"I'd very much doubt that other clubs will offer him what we are but we will have to see.

"We have offered him a year with an option for another year depending on how many games he starts.

"We're not too fussed about his fitness and we think he will come through."

Cardoza also hinted that the club could be ready to make their first signing of the summer in the next few days.

"We know what areas we need to strengthen in for next season and I'd probably say that we will bring in five new players," he said.

"We are still waiting to hear back from Bayo but hopefully he will sign and then we'll be looking to add at least one if not two more strikers to the squad."
