Former Northampton Saints target Joe van Niekerk has finally signed for French big-spenders Toulon.
The South African No.8 was reported to have signed for the French side before his mother and agent described the report as just a 'rumour'.

However, van Niekerk, whose transfer and three-year contract at Franklin's Gardens was scrapped last year because of injury concerns, has now confirmed he has signed a one-year deal with Toulon.

Van Niekerk said in a statement that he will leave South Africa after the home leg of the Tri-Nations at the end of August, but that he would available for the Springboks in the future.

Since his Saints move was scuppered, van Niekerk has forced his way back into the South African side.
