A rural pub is celebrating after the quality of its food was recognised by AA inspectors.

The Narrow Boat at Weedon has been awarded two AA Rosettes for the quality of its food, and also a four star silver award from the AA for their accommodation.

The venue already had a four star rating for its rooms, but this week was told it had been given the two rosette rating for culinary excellence.

Owner Richard Bray said: “We are extremely proud of our head chef Kirsty Collins and our executive chef Daniel Turner and their whole kitchen team.

“We think this award makes the Narrow Boat at Weedon the only pub/restaurant in Northamptonshire to have this award.

“Our front of house team also need to be congratulated on achieving the four star silver status for our seven canal-side rooms.”

The pub sits off the A5 just south of Weedon and faces directly on to the Grand Union Canal.

It achieved a one rosette award for its food in 2014.

The AA says the two rosette award recognises: “Excellent restaurants that aim for and achieve higher standards and better consistency. A greater precision is apparent in the cooking, and there will be obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients.”
