Northampton Swimming Club's A team won the opening round of the 2008 Nuneaton and District Junior League competition.
Competing against Ludlow, Worcester A, Stourbridge A, Camp Hill and Wyre Forest, they triumphed by 35 points.

Sam Thompson won the boys' 10-years and the 11-years breaststroke, taking the younger event by a huge six seconds.

Adam Elkington also won the boys nine-years freestyle and breaststroke events.

Northampton showed their depth by finishing in the top two in all relay events.

Coach Sarah Greasley said: "All the swimmers were a credit to NSC and performed fantastically. They all rose to the challenge."

The B team, which won promotion to division two with a fantastic effort last year, finished sixth overall in the face of very strong opposition.

Despite being up against all A teams, Adel Elfakir (50m back), Lorna Shore (50m back) and Raphael Kyte (25m breast) all won.

Coach Belinda Smith said: "I was very impressed with the attitude and effort of the team."

The next round of the junior league is on the May 10 when the A team will be at Nuneaton and Bedworth and the B team will be at Rugby.
