Olympic gold medallist Darren Campbell believes Northampton runner Damien Moss can win a place in the Great Britain team for next month's Games in Beijing.
Moss will line up in the 800m at this weekend's Olympic trials in Birmingham, which begin at the Alexander Stadium on Friday night.

And despite a disappointing performance for the Rugby & Northampton athlete on his Team GB debut in the World Indoor Championships in March, when he failed to get through the heats, Campbell believes Moss is still capable of going to China.

The Northampton runner battled back from three years of injury hell to make his GB debut, and Campbell said: "The thing is Damien's bounced back once, so he can do it again.

"To get to the World Champs is amazing and you've got to believe that you can do it again and step up to the next level.

" But you can't be too hard on yourself you need to take out the positives and I'm sure he can pull out his best in the outdoor season.

"The Olympics should be the only inspiration an athlete needs."

Moss is one of several Rugby & Northampton AC athletes in the trials, in a list that includes 400m hopeful Victoria Barr.
