Bowls: County's youngsters show their class again

Northants under-25s continued to successfully defend their Ron Barston Midland Counties title with an 18-shot victory over Leicestershire at hot and humid Abington BC on Sunday.
The county's youngsters showed their class again, winning four rinks and losing just one.
Jamie Walker's rink were the stars of the show, comfortably beating T Alcock's foursome 32-13.
The under-25s now look forward to a couple of friendly fixtures
against
Oundle on June 22 and Earls Barton on June 29 before their next MC match against Warwickshire on July 6.

The county men were beaten by two shots in a friendly match against Huntingdonshire at Kislingbury.

In a game played through constant rain, the game was reduced to 11 ends. Northants eventually lost the contest 59-57 in what proved to be a bit of a lottery.

The Northants men played their second friendly match of the week at Rugby, where they beat Warwickshire by three shots.

The county's under-25 double rink team will take part in the Inter County Regional Finals at Bedford Borough on Sunday.

Northants play in the semi-final on the morning and if successful then the final in the afternoon.
