Last year's winners Law Security's first opponents for the season were 20th Century, who having failed in their first triples match of the season, were keen to set the record straight in defence of their title.

e helped set the ball rolling with wins on their rinks of 21-8 and 21-13 respectively.
The final rink saw Law skip Harry Allen and Frank Jarrett battling it out to a 10-10 tie, to leave Law with 4.5 points from their first league match.
Health were competing with Doddridge in their first league match.
Setting the standard in the competition was the Health rink of Ted Williams, Andy Hornby, Kevin Stevens and Pete Muddiman, sealing a victory of 19-8.
Health sealed a further rink win, skipped by Paul Harvey, of 20-10. While Doddridge sealed their own rink win, as skipper Richard Lovesey helped seal a 17-14 win.
Amateurs faced Chronicle & Echo the same evening, and got away to an overwhelming start on the rink of Dave French, S Dolby, Michael Dix and Joe Kovacs, sealing a 38-11 win.
The other rinks were far less conclusive, with Amateurs taking a second 16-12, but the Chron's rink of Jan Warren, Mike Hallam, Martin King and Daniel Owens sealed a good win of their own (19-11), to deny Amateurs the full five points.
Thursday saw the second matches in the Ideal Motors Triple League.
Amateurs' second opponents in the competition were Health. The Amateurs trio of S Dolby, Michael Dix and Joe Kovacs were the pick once again with a 22-7 win.
The final two triples were shared, with Health taking one 20-10, and Amateurs sealing the final trio with a win of 12-6 and with it the match by 44-33.
Having lost their first match in the triples, Law Security's woes continued into their second match against 20th Century.
The 20th trio of June Tew, Robert Tew and Dennis Wakelin sealed a solid 20-12 win while their team-mates of Pete Thacker, Barry Coles and Frank Jarrett did likewise with a 15-11 win.
Law managed to seal the final triple, but the match was 20th Century's 44-38.
The final match of the week saw Primrose Hill playing Doddridge.
The Hill trio of Rose Sanderson, Dawn Horrocks and John Horrocks set the benchmark in the match sealing an 18-10 victory.
A second triple went Hill's way 14-9, while the third triple had a topsy-turvy encounter with a seven, six and five exchanged during the match, but ending tied at 17-17.
A 49-36 match win left Primrose with 4.5 points from the encounter, and top of the table after the second week of play.
In tonight's league games, Chronicle & Echo seek their first win when they take on Doddridge, Health take on Amateurs while Primrose Hill face champions Law Security.
