Thieves steal keys from homes, then cars

Police are investigating two burglaries in Northampton in which car keys and then cars were stolen.
Between 3am and 8am today on Monday, a burglary occurred in Poplar Court, Boothville, Northampton.

The rear kitchen window was removed to gain entry and and car keys were taken to steal a silvery blue Citroen Berlingo MPV, registration KW55 HYR.
Inside the car was a Shop Rider mobility scooter.

Also taken was a 32ins Samsung LCD TV, a Pro-Image digital camera and a green leather-look handbag containing cash and cards.

Two mountain bikes were also stolen from the garden, one a yellow and black Saxon Boxster bike and the other a yellow and black Grande 250 series bike.

The second burglary occurred between midnight and 6.30am. A house in Obelisk Rise, Northampton, was entered via an insecure side door and stole a silver Samsung LE26RT1BD 26 ins LCD TV, a black leather handbag containing purse and various bank cards.

Car keys to a navy blue Mercedes A140, reg KX02 WDC, were also stolen and the car was then taken from the driveway outside.

"People are being reminded to keep their car keys well hidden at home and not visible or accessible through doors or windows," said a spokesman.
