Following a call for young entrepreneurs aged 14 to 25 to take part, several young people have come forward and will be trading alongside the regular market traders on Saturday May 28.

Market officers from Northampton Borough Council will guide potential traders through the process of becoming a stall holder, including helping with public liability insurance. Any young entrepreneurs who get a taste for market trading from the experience and would like to become a regular market trader will also receive follow up support from the team. Under 16s will require supervision from a parent or guardian.

Councillor Jonathan Nunn, chair of the Market Advisory Group, said: “I would urge any young people considering setting up in business to give market trading a try and having a free stall at the youth market is the ideal opportunity to get a taste of market life and test out their business ideas.”

Any young people who have not yet expressed interest but would like to take part are encouraged to contact the market team at Northampton Borough Council before the deadline passes on Friday 6 May. The market team can be contacted on 07979 747081 or by email at [email protected]
