X Factor star among performers at two-day festival
Young singers and musicians are putting the finishing touches to their acts ahead of a two-day festival in Northampton.
This year's Walk in the Park show, which will take place at Wootton Community and Sports Centre in Curtlee Hill, will feature a stage run by students from Caroline Chisholm School in Wootton Fields.
MC James Leslie and friend Reuben, and a three-piece girl band called Taken will be among the performers at the family event that follows a night of tribute acts as well as ITV's X Factor contestant Laura White.
Holly Harrison, 16, a member of Taken, has already turned down a place on X Factor after opting to go back to school for her A levels but said she hoped Walk in the Park would be the first of many shows for the group.
She said: "I'm feeling really happy about it and it's going to be nice meeting different people."
Bandmates Mia Seymour and Georgina Collinson said they were looking forward to performing at Walk in the Park, which last year drew crowds of 3,000 people.
Janan Fifield, who has supported the girls through his music workshop project Performin Room, said: "They've worked really hard with each other and it's been a bit of a personal development for them."
The event takes place on Friday, July 3 with a tribute night and Saturday, July 4 from 12pm until 10.30pm. Tickets are available from www.walkin theparkfestival.co.uk.
