A woman has sustained “life changing” injuries after she was involved in a crash on the M1 in Northampton

The woman was a passenger in a blue Vauxhall Corsa that swerved into the motorway embankment on the M1 southbound, near junction 15, on Saturday at about 10am.

It is believed the car suffered a puncture, causing the driver to lose control.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said the driver, a 22-year-old man, and two passengers, two women, aged 20 and 21, were taken to Northampton General Hospital with minor injuries.

The third passenger, a 20-year-old woman was taken to University Hospital Coventry with life changing injuries.
